Cheerleaders at rival schools fight cancer

Olympia High School and University High School held a fundraiser to benefit ACS and Relay For Life at a varsity basketball game. The event was conceived to honor an Olympia senior who was being treated for her second bout with cancer and for a testicular cancer survivor at University High. Each of these high schools have a student population of 600. Students and community members purchased commemorative purple t-shirts to wear to the game. Both bands, cheerleading squads, pom pom squads, and basketball teams wore the t-shirts in honor of survivor, caregivers and those lost to cancer. Students fought back by raising over $15,000 from the sale of t-shirts, sale of moons and stars, raffle, dinner, concession and silent auction. Can't wait for next year!
