Heroes of Hope: Mel Kyser - Kyle, TX

The Heroes of Hope and their Profiles of Courage provide a highly visible symbol of personal victory over cancer and encourage support and participation in the programs of the American Cancer Society. Cancer survivors inspire us, reaffirm our mission with the American Cancer Society, and reinforce, in a personal way, the need to eliminate cancer from our lives within our lifetime. Heroes of Hope: Profiles of Courage is a survivorship initiative involving the selection of 28 Heroes of Hope from across the High Plains Division of the American Cancer Society. This effort has three primary goals: To identify cancer survivors with exemplary involvement in the American Cancer Society Relay For Life; to broaden the reach, effectiveness, and outreach of survivorship year-round; and to develop a broad and diverse group of Relay For Life Survivor spokespersons.

Hero of Hope Mel Kyser, we will Relay without you this year for the first time. We will never be the same and the loss is blinding; however we will live our lives just as you lived yours....with hope and joy through our faith in Jesus Christ.

In memory of my father, Mel Kyser, who lost his battle with cancer on August 13, 2010. I'm so proud of how you chose to fight against this disease, Daddy. I'm missing you more than ever. You were always my hero. I love you!
