Kendra Swanson--2006 Iowa Courage Award Winner

Kendra is an 18-year old high school senior, who has been battling cancer since she was 9. She is a very special young lady, and was the 2006 Iowa Courage Award winner. This award is presented annually to an outstanding Volunteer who is a cancer survivor. The winner shall possess strong public speaking and interpersonal communication skills, an ability to deal effectively with the media, and a demonstrated interest in the need to heighten awareness in cancer control. He/she will be expected to serve a one - year term as the Region’s “Ambassador,” traveling to unit meetings, the Iowa Region Annual Leadership Summit, and other special events to appear and/or speak as requested. This is a two-part series that appeared on MyABC5 TV in Des Moines, Iowa.
